The Hudson River Bridges Plates are a set of six porcelain, 8 1⁄4” salad/dessert-sized plates produced by River Wind Productions, the Hudson River Valley company that preceded 81stStreet Productions.
Each of 6 plates featured the image of a different majestic Hudson River crossing:
• George Washington Bridge
• Bear Mountain Bridge
• Newburgh-Beacon Bridge
• Mid-Hudson Bridge
• Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge
• Rip Van Winkle Bridge
The Hudson River Bridge Plates collection commemorated the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s historic voyage up the Hudson River in 1609. The evocative “border designs” are suggestive of native Hudson River fauna found along the length of the river. Photographs by Christopher Thomas.
These sets were a limited edition and were sold at select locations, including The Steven Kasher Gallery, Nest Interiors and the New York Historical Society gift shop, in Manhattan, and the gift shop at the historic Olana museum, in Hudson, New York.
There is no longer inventory of these plates available for purchase.
